Hmm. I'm rapidly running out of space on the bookcase shelf devoted to Donald Westlake/Richard Stark. The Westlake/Stark first editions have practically crowded out any other novels, with only a couple of Peter O'Donnell and Joe Gores books still hanging in there for dear life:

Westlake Shelf: Left Hand Side |

Westlake Shelf: Right Hand Side |
And they'll have to make way for a couple more Westlake Scores soon. But then what? What happens when the Westlake Shelf is full? Do I just... stop?
Such a beautiful thing, that shelf. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI think I see what your problem is. You state: "I'm rapidly running out of space on the bookcase shelf devoted to Donald Westlake/Richard Stark." The solution is to devote the entire bookcase to DW/RS - if there were ever a man who could not be limited to a single shelf, it is Donald Westlake. (I have an entire bookcase devoted to Georges Simenon.)
Perhaps this is too radical a solution as you will have to find space for everything you displace. But it opens up the possibility of collecting Alan Marshall, James Blue, Edwin West, Tucker Coe, Samuel Holt and some others.
I'm seriously thinking about get some Alan Marshall books. But I'm worried that might be a sign of madness.
That may be a bridge too far, even for me. Mind you, never say never: once I've filled up the other shelf with Westlakes, I might start down the Marshall road myself.
